The Department was recently awarded the FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency Fire Prevention and Safety Grant. The Department was awarded $79,000.00 for a community wide smoke alarm campaign for Montgomery Township, PA. Members of the Department will be visiting neighborhoods in the Township installing smoke and CO alarms as well as completing Home Safety Checklists and registering homeowners with Ready Montco.

The Department utilized the grant money to purchase battery operated smoke and CO alarms, hard wired smoke alarms with conversion kits, and LED smoke alarms for the hard of hearing. We will also be completing a Home Safety Checklist at all homes and registering homeowners for our Community Notifications through readymontco.org

We will kickoff the campaign next Sunday May 15, 2022 in the Orchards neighborhood off of Stump Road. We will be visiting different neighborhoods during the summer and early fall installing smoke alarms and completing Home Safety Checks.
